Question

View an electronic file (Not PDF) in document viewer

asked on August 11, 2020

Other than a PDF, I cannot view an electronic document in Weblink 10 Document Viewer. I have to download the document to view. I can only view the document in Document Viewer if there is an image attached to the electronic document. I have "Other Electronic Documents" checked in View Documents Options. Is there a way to view an electronic document without adding an image or downloading?

Hi Nyesha,

What other electronic document file formats are you looking to open in WebLink's Document Viewer? WebLink has special handling to be able to display PDFs. Other edoc formats will generally depend on native web browser support to display.

Hi Samuel,

I am trying to view Microsoft documents, word, excel, email. Our company uses both IE11 and Chrome with the same result.

Thank you

It appears there is an option in the Public User tab of WebLink Designer to display other electronic file types in addition to PDFs. It may not work for Office documents though as browsers don't have native viewers for those formats.

Hi Samuel,

Thank you for your reply. We do have that option and it is checked.  Thank you for letting me know about the browsers. Now I know Office documents will need an image to view in Document Viewer if customers don't want to download.

Thank you so much
