Embed Web Client in Iframe showing Thumbnails but shouldn't

asked on July 31, 2020

I am trying to embed a web client document into an LF Form. When I embed the web client document into the form, it shows the thumbnails pane but not thumbnails (I don't want the pane at all).  If I view the document in the Windows client or web client directly all is well and there are thumbnails.

What we want is just the document pages, no thumbnails or metadata. If I use the link I in a browser directly it works fine with no metadata or thumbnail pane.  If I embed the same link in Forms it shows the thumbnail pane and takes up space in the for the pages.

Here is the link I am using:

https://ws16-lfapp/laserfiche/DocView.aspx?db=Accounting&docid=226343&mode=embed

I have attached a screenshot of the two views side by side.  Left is embedded in forms and right is the just the browser.

Hey Jason-

Yeah, I'm seeing that, too. I swear I had it working. When set up I was actually on Forms 10.4.4 with Web Access 10.3.1. Now WA is all updated, too...maybe that "fixed" the full screen from iframe? This is for a project that's about to begin testing. Better to encounter goofiness now than in production I suppose.

Using mode=small works decently well for me. There is a search bar at the top of the frame, but the thumbnails and metadata are hidden (it's possible that hiding the Details pane is a user setting that has to be done the first time; if so that can be made a user attribute).

Hi Jason. Two thoughts for you:

  1. Embedding Web Access within Forms has long been finicky, but gets a bit better with each version. If this environment isn't on 10.4 yet, I recommend updating if it's possible.
  2. Try switching your mode=embed to instead be view=fullscreen (note that in Forms 10.3 this would cause an F11 full screen of the form, but not in 10.4)

Pieter,

Thanks for the reply.  We are using the latest build of 10.4 and the browser is Chrome. When I use view=fullscreen it actually makes the form that is assigned to that user step open full screen, not just the embedded Web Client. Seems that adding that line to the iframe link made the whole form open full screen.

Thanks, Mode=small worked great.
