Question

Recurring Submission Errors on Multiple Processes

asked on July 24, 2020

This error message used to pop up occasionally on some of our form submissions. Most of the time, it would still actually submit the form, but the error was a nuisance as it made the submitter believe it had not. Lately, it seems to be occurring a lot more often, and in one case, the form never does actually submit. I'm doing some testing on my end to troubleshoot the issue, but has anyone else ever battled this, and what was the solution?

Do the forms giving the error have any drop-down fields populated by a SQL lookup?  I have had this issue when I have fields populated by SQL and the user has the form open more than 30 minutes.  It basically didn't recognize any of the drop-down choice and threw the error.  I got around it by turning off the back-end validation on the form.

Giving that a go tonight (it's for a PD officer who can attempt their submission again when he's on shift later). Thanks for the assist and I'll let you know how it pans out!

You might also want to check your firewall.  We had a problem 2 or 3 years back (version 9 of everything) where our PD was on a different (more secure) network.  They could open forms but when they submitted, it was never received by Laserfiche and basically got lost.  It that case it didn't show any errors but we noticed none of the submission were getting logged as an instance in forms.

Hi Jennifer,

What version of Forms are yous using? Can you still reproduce that? If you can still reproduce the error, can you provide the configuration for your process and detail error from event log on Forms server?

Sorry Xiuhong,

This was a few years ago and we have upgraded a few times since then.  I cannot reproduce the issue with the firewall.

What version of Forms are you using? Can you check the error in the event log on the Forms server? It has full stack trace there that can help us identify whether it is a known bug.
