Opening PDF attachments to tasks in 10.4.4 opens in new tab instead of downloading the PDF as it did previously, can this be changed back with a setting?

Hi All,

I have a client that noticed that after updating forms to version 10.4.4, when they go to open a PDF attachment to a form in the user task that it now opens in a new tab and brings that tab / browser window to the front, hiding the task window behind it. In previous versions, it would just download the attachment PDF and they could open the file from there.

I've been able to reproduce both the before and after on a test machine as well going from version 10.4.2 to 10.4.4, so it seems that this may be an intentional change. Does anyone know if there is a way to change this behavior back to downloading the attachment instead of opening it in a new tab?

Hi Cody,

This behavior change is intended as we want to support get a correct error message when the file fail to be downloaded. Currently there is no global option to download the pdf file directly without open it in a new tab for all users. Can you share why you prefer the previous behavior?

Hi Xiuhong,

Thank you for the information, that is very helpful! The client has to verify things on the attachment to make sure they are good to go, and their PDF viewer opens on one screen while their browser is generally on the other, so it just disrupts their current work flow a bit.
