Question

Compression by Laserfiche

asked on July 13, 2020

Hi, I have a client using a Canon MFD to scan documents to Laserfiche. They are wondering if Laserfiche can be utilized to pass the file from Uniflow to Laserfiche, perform OCR on it, and then compress the file before passing it to an import folder which then would be imported to the repository. Any ideas on how Laserfiche could automate this?

I might be misunderstanding what you're after, but I'd like to suggest a different order to this process.

  1. Scan the document with the Canon MFD
  2. Import the document into the repository, possibly using Import Agent, or Quick Fields Agent to provide an automated process.
  3. Perform OCR
  4. Perform compression.

Quick Fields can perform compression on documents that it processes. It can also OCR, or you can leave OCR to DCC.

If you need more control, you could use the SDK in workflow to perform image compression, but you might still need QF or IA to import the documents in order to make pages.
