Question

Question

Can you markup old versions of documents?

asked on July 10, 2020

I have a request coming from a user that I'm not sure if it's possible. We have Word documents under version control. Here is the request. Can you markup or apply a watermark to the old version so, in the case of a user exporting/printing an old version, the document would have something on it to indicate that it's not the current version.

Thank you in advance.

There isn't any built-in support for that, and there are 2 large obstacles to trying to implement it yourself:

  1. You would need to watermark the Word document, which is not something we have any support for.
  2. Non-current versions of a document are not editable, so you would need to apply the watermark before the user saves the new version.

It's an interesting idea though, I'll pass it along.
