Uploaded Documents in Laserfiche Forms not attaching to E-mail or showing up for approvers to see

asked on July 10, 2020

I hope someone can help.  I built a form.  One person at our University completes the form and it is sent to her Committee to approve.  She needs to be able to upload information for them to see.  She would like the attachments to show up in the E-mails they receive when they are notified they have a form to approve.  So far, I cannot get the documents to show on the form they open in Laserfiche, or attach to the E-mail which is sent to the approvers.  Can someone help?  Thanks!

Hi Dawn,

In the File Upload field on the approver task form, select the "Show uploaded images" option, then choose a thumbnail size. This will allow the documents to be viewed within the approver form. I only discovered this recently myself and it works beautifully.

I had already tried doing that and it still won't work.

Here is what it looks like when I complete the form -

Here is what I see after clicking Submit -

There is nothing listed next to Upload.

When the approver gets the E-mail, the form is attached and this is what it looks like - again no files listed next to Upload -

Then when they go into Forms to approve or reject the candidate, this is what they see -

Any other ideas?  Thanks!

Dawn

To attach uploaded documents to a notification email, select the variable that is assigned to the File Upload field on the Attachment line in the Email Notification edit screen. The documents are not previewed on an attached PDF copy of a form - you'll only see the document names there - the uploaded documents are then attached separately.

I'm sorry, I can't speak to why you are not able to see the documents on task forms - the Show uploaded images option does have to be selected on all subsequent forms. I see the documents throughout my process, including after submission. What does the edit screen look like for your file upload field?

Here is my File Upload Edit Box on the form -

And in the E-mail section on the business process, this is what it looks like -

I only have one form in this process.

Hi Dawn,

It looks like uploaded file is not submitted as part of form in your environment. Is it configured as high-security variation in DMZ?

If yes, please check 'Synchronizing attachments' section under 'High-Security Variation: Two Forms Servers, Two SQL Servers' in https://support.laserfiche.com/resources/3481/hosting-laserfiche-forms-10-in-a-perimeter-network-dmz-

By default, in a setup with two distinct SQL Servers, users submitting forms to the DMZ Forms server cannot upload attachments as part of the form. To enable attachment submission from the DMZ, configure SQL transactional replication for the attachments table. Note that this requires opening a port, which decreases the security of your setup.
