Question

Web Client capturing Windows Creation Date metadata

asked on July 8, 2020

I have a client that is trying to import documents via Web Client. One of their requirements is to capture the creation date from the Windows Metadata. As far as I know, this is not possible and is a security feature of web browsers.

If we were to use Import Agent, the original creation date is lost when copying the file to the watch folder.

Does anyone have any suggestions around capturing Windows Metadata more reliably?

Hi Jonathan,

Import Agent has some different tokens when importing a file that contain some basic file information, including File > Creation Date.

Thanks Jim,

However, that Import Agent process only works if the customer can move the file to the watch folder (rather than copying it). If the file/s are copied to the watch folder, new creation dates are set (as they are new files).

By any chance, Is this answered or resolved? I have the same issue where the documents migrated to Laserfiche needs to have windows creation date as metadata and while doing that in import agent is an option , the creation date gets lost while copying in watched folder.
