Question

Question

Can a Participant user download or print a PDF from Laserfiche, or start a Business Process in Laserfiche?

asked on July 1, 2020

Customer is considering purchasing additional licensing. Want to minimize the cost.

Questions about the capabilities of the Participant license:

When they click a link to a document in Laserfiche, can they download or print it?

When they are in the Laserfiche web client, can the Start a Business process?

Thanks!

  1. If given the rights to do so, a user with a Participant license can Print and Download files.
  2. They can submit forms and complete forms tasks.

Thanks

Do you know if a Participant user can right click in the web client and Start a Business Process?

From my tests no, a user with a Participant license cannot start a Business Process for the Web or Windows Client.

Participants only get read-only access to the repository. Starting business processes requires a full license.

Thank you Blake and Miruna.

I have let the customer know the following. Please let me know if any of this is incorrect.

1. With proper access rights, Participant users can print and download PDF images from the web or desktop client.

2. As Participant users change fields in a form tied directly to Laserfiche fields, Workflow can update the metadata in a Laserfiche document using a service account.

3. In order to change metadata inside the Laserfiche client, or to start a Business Process, the user will need a Full Named User license.

#2 sounds like you're trying to skirt the licensing structure of the system, but everything you said is correct.
