Laserfiche windows on a 4K screen look miniature

asked on June 30, 2020 Show version history

Hello all,

I have a concern about some of the windows in Laserfiche that are appearing very small on my 4K laptop screen. Please see the numerous screenshots of the windows I've seen so far. They include the LF document viewer in Desktop Client, Import Agent, and the LF Installer.

A quick note about the document viewer in Desktop Client. In 4K mode, if I open a PDF, the PDF looks offset initially. If I disable the Electronic File Pane, then re-enable it, the PDF snaps back into place and looks normal and centered. Also, I've included one screenshot of the doc viewer in 2560x1600 to show that as you get closer to 4K, the offset increases.

In 4K mode, not all windows are miniature, as you can see with the Import Agent's Create Profile dialog and the installer wizard dialog.

If I change my screen resolution to 1080p, none of the issues happen, all windows look normal.

Is there a workaround or hotfix for these issues?

Hi Nareg!

My guess would be Windows Scaling, used to make things bigger on hi res laptop screens like yours. I've never really trusted it because some apps look good and others do weird things. You might try turning it off--setting to 100%--to see if that makes things better, although it will obviously make other things look smaller. I think you have to reboot for that change to take effect.

Hi Pieter,

It's been a long time, I hope you're doing well. Thanks for your response.

I didn't realize it at first, but the scaling is exactly what's producing this effect. In 4K, I had to scale my screen up to 200% for the sake of preserving my vision. Word of advice, think twice before buying a 4K screen on a 13" laptop, lol. Laptop performs great, but obviously some drawbacks to these specs.

Thanks for helping out. Best Regards.
