Question

Using variable value in Field Labels in Collections

asked on June 30, 2020

Hello Laserfiche Community,

I'm trying to display a time in the collection field label after form submission if a new collection is added.

I've a text field in a collection which has been configured to use variable value (current time) in the field labels. When a form is submitted, it is updating all the field labels in the previous collection to the last form submission current time instead of just updating the last added collection.

Is this is a bug or a normal behaviour?

I'm using Laserfiche Forms 10.3.1.705

TIA

Hi Aman,

This is expected behavior. The labels are not saved the same way the fields are.

A solution is to add a Time field in the collection, and make it readonly and set the default value to the current time. It will then show the date that comment was added when viewing the form.

Thanks Jim for confirming.

Yes, i do have a date/time field in the collection as an alternative but wanted to use that in field labels.

Yeah the only way you could do it is with JavaScript to take the date/time and change the label names.
