Question

LFDS Administration Login

asked on June 25, 2020

We have an external Help desk group that we would like to give access to the LFDS Admin console so that they can look at user accounts. The LFDS requires windows authentication via IIS but we want to refrain from setting them up with domain accounts locally just to login to the lfds.

Is there any other login methods we can set up to give an external group access to the LFDS with out setting up a domain account? Can we set it up to login into the lfds admin console via a lfds account?

Hi Kyle,

Unfortunately an Active Directory or local Windows account is required to access the LFDS admin console.

As it has been 4 years since Kyle originally asked this question, I am hoping maybe the answer has changed.

We would like to grant access to administer LFDS to a SAML user via their SAML account.  Essentially, we would like them to be able to log in to administer LFDS via LFDSSTS, just like when they log into Forms or the WebClient.  Is this possible now in version 11?

If not, will it be possible in version 12?

I am hoping this is available in LF 12 but have not seen where it listed as a new feature.  Any word on when we will be able to allow a SAML account the ability to log into LFDS and administer LFDS?

With the Spring Release of LF 12, I was hoping we would be able to setup SAML users to log into the LFDS site so they can administer LFDS, but it explicitly states it only works for AD users & Laserfiche trustees.

Does anyone at Laserfiche know if this functionality is on the radar and if so, when it is estimated to be available?
