these are good enhancements... we've been struggling with recovering data from forms that have a submission error.  are there directions on how to make this happen now?  we currently upgraded our version to 10.4.4 this past weekend.

It will happen automatically. Previously, a user would submit the form and hit a submission error page letting them know their form submission failed. Now, the error page will explain better why the submission failed and show a button to recover the submission. This will allow the user filling out the form to log back in if they were logged out, fix a bad field value if that was the problem, or get an updated copy of the form if that caused the submission error.

Liza, I've been waiting to upgrade to Version 10.4.4 since we have had some major other changes these past six months.  How did your upgrade go?  No hiccups?

There's a lot of cleaning up to do from the upgrade.

1) my templates were screwed up from moving Repository named users to using LFDS users.

2) all of the pending forms (ones that are still in-Progress) had to be reassigned to users because of the migration of users .

3) any tasks assigned to users in all business processes using the named user license had to be switched to using the LFDS server licenses

However... if you started out using LF forms with AD accounts you shouldn't run into this issue.  My org didnt start out using AD account.  they used repository named user account -- so we had to add in each user 1 by 1 when creating their LFDS accounts.

Wow!  I'm glad I asked!  The biggest change we made just prior to hearing about the upgrade for 10.4.4 was switching over to the LFDS!

So then, are there any "lessons learned" that you can share?  Is there a way to make this less painful?

Our new LFDS has been running since the beginning of May and we appear to have ironed out all the quirks now.  I might still have a few forms that are "in progress" from prior to end of April, but most of them would have been finished now.

We were using Windows Accounts to set up licenses in the Laserfiche Repository from Day 1, so maybe some of what you experienced might not happen to us?

yea i think if you're already set up prior to the upgrade.. then you most likely will not run into all of the issues i ran into.  it was a lot of cleaning up.  I would say if you're upgrading to the newer version of forms and adding in more participant licenses, its better to have all of your accounts using LFDS instead of the named user.  it's easier to manage and easier to sort out the accounts.  the clean up is such a pain-- i'm still trying to get everything aligned since the friday upgrade.

Thanks, Liza.  Maybe it's safe to give it a go then.  Our staff have just had to deal with so much change since Covid-19 and suddenly working remotely, I didn't want to add one more headache to their days should the Forms upgrade not go smoothly.

This is too late for you, Liza, but hopefully it will help the next person. There is an account migration tool that transfers repository users to LFDS and keeps their security and tasks: https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014036/laserfiche-account-migration-tool

Also, if you are already set up using LFDS, upgrading to Forms 10.4.4 shouldn't hit any of the issues that Liza mentions. All of those issues were related to moving users from LFS to LFDS.
