Question

FTS indexing of Forms pages saved in Repository

asked on June 3, 2020

Hi,

A customer receives many new form submissions which are saved in the Laserfiche repository as TIF pages for triggering workflows.  The data within the forms would be helpful for them to search by text content.

Other image files are being OCR indexed but for some reason image Form pages are being overlooked by the FTS search service.

These files can be manually OCR'd by Generate Text from the client, however the customer would like this done automatically ie. similar way to Import Agent with Retrieve text by OCR.

Customer has latest builds of 10.4.2.

Greatly appreciate any help or feedback if anyone has experienced same.

many thanks

Warren, this is not a bug. Forms does not have a feature to OCR documents when they are saved to the repository, so someone would need to either manually OCR the forms or as Jonathan stated, have a product that does it for them.

Hi Warren,

How about a workflow with the Scheduled OCR process? The workflow could be triggered upon document creation within the parent folder?

Hi Jon,

I've tested a DCC workflow option already which does work. The customer does not have DCC installed so I'm exploring what can work with their current configuration especially if I am overlooking a configurable setting or identifying a bug/OS incompatibiity in the latest build components.

Thanks Blake for confirmation.

Will install DCC for use by workflow if the customer decides they need this capability.
