Question

This document contains no pages

asked on June 3, 2020

Below, I provided a screenshot of a list of files, whereas, some of the documents in the file (the pink icon) have no pages when I click on it, in which the other screenshot on this page is the result I get when I open one of those documents.

To my knowledge all of the documents in this file were imported into laserfiche the same way. I tried to copy one of the documents to my desktop so that i could open in it's original format, but that did not happen. Is there a way to retrieve the document or is it lost forever?

Thanks in advance and have a blessed day.

If the document contains no pages and you see the same issue with an admin-level account with full access to everything in the repository, then the most likely explanation is that Laserfiche was not able to import the page/image for some reason. In that case, the only way to retrieve it would be to go back to the original source since Laserfiche never actually had an image.

As you noted, the documents represented by the pink icon have no pages. It's not that the server can't find the image pages (as could happen if e.g. a volume is removed), it's that the database thinks that there are no pages assigned to this document. Without knowing more, it's hard to say if the page was never added to the document, if it was added and later deleted, or added and later moved to another document. Does your repository have any auditing enabled? If so, you could see all the actions taken on the entry in question. Without that (which is a separate module) you're kind of limited. You might be able to deduce something from the creation date, last modified date, and last modified by properties of the documents in the folder. In those fields, are there noticeable differences between the documents with and without pages?
