How can I remove a Default on a Template? It is not showing as a default in the Admin Console

Hello.  I have a template that they want the default Category removed.

No idea why it happened. Possibly a glitch in the database or Windows client.

Hi Sue,

A few things you could try:

  1. Try setting the default value to another option and then back to nothing
  2. Add a blank to the list and see if you can set that as the default
  3. Do you have the web client? Does it show the same thing?

Hi Jim and Thank you!!

It was not showing any default in the web client and still showing in the Win Client.  It already had a blank space added so I added a list item "s" and then went to the field in the admin console and was able to see it listed as the default now but still not able to remove.  What was weird it that it was showing as the Field Default in the last screenshot above view now, so I went to the template hoping it was showing there now as well and it was!! and I was able to select the blank and it is now working correctly and not displaying smiley

Do you know what causes this?  We are now on 10.4 but I'm sure that template/fields were built over 5 years ago and we just stood up Rio last July and was on (I believe) United??  

I just like to know why something happens not just the fix, because if I know then it may help deducing another issue.
