Question

Install only the Quick Fields Agent Administration console

asked on May 27, 2020

Hi,

Is it possible for the Quick Fields Agent Admin Console can be installed by itself and used without a Quick Fields license to point to the actual QFA server? I've only ever accessed it from the server, but it seems like it may be possible because of the way the utility is configured when you open it for the first time. A customer has a need to monitor it for errors without giving the user access to the QFA server itself. Thanks in advance.

What I was trying to say is that even if it was possible (which is not because Quick Fields Agent is part of Quick Fields, so the install will ask for a license), it's not really going to satisfy your security requirements as a local administrator would have full access to the machine. Errors reported during Quick Fields Agent runs are likely going to result in documents being left in the session, so the user would have to launch Quick Fields to remove them.

The user needs local administrator rights to the Quick Fields Agent machine to be able to access the schedules.

What are they expected to do when an error is reported?

Hi Miruna,

They need to delete the batch and start over, and run the schedule manually from the QF admin. We were hoping to only give this user access to the QF Admin console and folder permissions to the source files on the server. It sounds like it's possible to install and this utility without a license from another workstation as long as the user is a local administrator on the QFA server? What is the executable to install only the QF admin if that is that case?

Thanks for your help.

Good point, thank you for the input. That makes sense, and we'll go about giving this user the proper permissions to the server to be able to access the agent and the admin for it.
