Hi Mike

A bit of a workaround for you. A Participant License can start a Form process. You can use a Custom Tab to embed a form in the Web Client and have it populate the Entry ID, Metadata Fields, etc of a selected item in the repository. When you submit the form, the form process would call the Workflow, using the information from the form to pass variables to the workflow. I would also suggest you hide the submit button if an entry is not selected so you can't start the workflow by mistake

To clarify, this is a poor user experience and not in line with our EULA. We do not recommend this workaround.

Hi Catherine,

I am interested to see how you would view it if it came from the other way. Say you had a form/Business process that referenced data in the repository and opened an iframe to a document inside Laserfiche as part of an approval process. After the approval process, it kicks off a workflow on that document. Would that also be seen as not inline with the EULA?

In the scenario you described, the workflow is being started as part of the backend process and would be fine. In general, the client access of the repository should be read-only for Participant users. We have built in functionality and user interface that allow Full users to manually kick off a workflow from the client. This is hidden from Participant users.

Hi Mike,

I wouldn't think so no, a participant license has read only access within the Laserfiche repository.

Cheers!

Alright, Thanks for clearing that up Chris.

We would love to learn more about what you are trying to accomplish. Per the EULA - Participant licenses provide authenticated access to submit forms and view reports in addition to retrieval-only access to the repository.
