Question

How to track last login for users in a group? RIO and AD groups

asked on May 5, 2020

Hello Everyone,

I have an RIO environment with multiple repositories. I rely on AD groups for license management as well as access to repo/folders. My question is, how can I see when a user last logged in? Usually, if a Windows user is defined in the admin console, I can see their last login and logoff. Currently, I have an AD group called "Truck Bosses" and that group is assigned access right to folders and authentication is "trusted" so that anyone in that group can access the right folders in a repo. So far, it does not look like the individual windows accounts show up in the admin console when they log in. So my situation is that I have no idea what people in that group have logged in or not unless I email them all and just ask.

Since I'm using groups to make my life easier when it comes to adding people and managing access, am I losing the ability to check the last login?

Thanks.

I just tried this to double-check and the user is added to the list for me when logging in through the desktop client, web client, and web client via SSO as expected.

If you are not seeing the users added to the list, we would need more information.
For example:

  • What version are you on?
  • How are users logging in? (desktop client? SSO? Web client without SSO?)

Alternatively, you can use audit trail to record and view login events, which doesn't rely on the account cache that the server has.

Note that the Laserfiche Server user list will not track logins through Forms if you are using LFDS for authentication. If you are needing to look at forms login, you have a few options:

  • Run a SQL query on the Forms database
  • Turn on SSO login auditing within Laserfiche Directory Server (released in LFDS 10.4.3) and view audit logs to check login activity
