Feature Request: Justify Access Field for Security Purposes

posted on May 1, 2020

This is a bit of random request, but one that I think may have merit. I'm not sure how it would be implemented either.

As a feature, I think it would be valuable if you could turn on a requirement for users to justify their accessing certain private documents (this could be indicated by a security tag, for instance). For example, if I try to open ConfidentialDoc123, LF would prompt me with a window: "Why are you accessing this document" and I would have to provide a brief reason as to why.

This would track why users are accessing records and would deter/track unjustified access.

Hi Robyn,

I don't think it's a good idea to use the Repository to accomplish this functionality.
You should use Laserfiche Forms which would allow you to expose documentary references using different field lists from your index cards.
The user makes his request, a workflow checks his credentials and sends him the response.
If it is yes you can make a shortcut on the requested document via a very simple workflow.
