Sorting by list field with over 10,000 values causes extremely slow load times

asked on April 30, 2020

Hi,

We have a list field that contains over 10k unique names of our vendors.  If we ever sort the contents pane by this field, it takes a really long time to load.  If we don't sort by that field, the data appears in a second or two, but if that field is sorted, it will take over 30 seconds.  This is true with 20 or 2000 entries.  I've tried indexing the field to speed it up, but there are no changes.

We need to be able to sort by that field, so I can't just tell them not to do that.  Any ideas what may be going on here and how I can speed it up?  Thank you in advance for your time and consideration!

Are you using the desktop client or the web one? Do you know which version? How many documents do you usually have in that folder?

We are using desktop client, and on the most recent version of Laserfiche Rio (10.4.2).  This issue isn't affecting a particular folder, but any folder you try to sort by this field (Vendor List).  In comparison, another list field I have with about 30,000 items doesn't have the same slow down.  If I have the vendor list field displayed, and none of the entries even have that field, when I sort by that field, it still slows down.
