Question

"No Search Hits Found" when performing a search for an email address?

asked on April 30, 2020

I was trying to locate an account on specific 300+ page document which, I know the email address of this person was there, just not sure where.

When I searched for the email address within the folder/sub-folders, it did not locate any.

What am I doing wrong?

Search for other known text on the document.  Does the search find that?

OCR makes mistakes, maybe the OCR text differs from the correct email address.

A pixel is a point in a digital image.  You can't search for arrangements of black points on a white background image.  But you have OCR so that's a moot point.

What kind of search did you perform?

How does the phantom email address appear on the document?  Text?  An image on a page?  You can't search for pixels.  Is the document OCRed?

Is the document indexed?

These are posting journals of text (words, numbers). The email address appears in a column. We print to LF Snapshot to generate image pages, and are all OCR'd.

What is a pixel for the purpose of searching?

How about a screen-shot package?  I don't know about yours, but my crystal ball is super dusty, so can't see much.
