Question

How to Generate Pages automatically?

asked on April 27, 2020

I am trying to update my Purchase Order Form to build a PDF Purchase Order. The main point of this Form and process is to remove as much human interaction as possible.

Is there any way to Generate Pages automatically with either Forms or Workflow?

Forms can save submitted forms to Laserfiche as image pages (or PDF). Workflow does not have built-in page generation capabilities.

So is there anyway in the entire list of Laserfiche products that would make it possible to have pages generated automatically? Even if it is super convoluted.

Can you clarify what you're after? When Forms saves a submission to the repository as images, you get pages. But if you're after a PDF and have Forms save it as PDF, then why are image pages still needed?

I have a fillable PDF template, a user submits various bits of information in Forms, then Workflow takes that information and merges it into the proper fields on the PDF. Once that is done the new PDF sits in the repository and if you simply open it it is blank, you need to "Generate Pages" to get the information to actually show up, but this process seems to be a manual process only which renders my goal of laserfiche slightly moot since I want to cut out as much human interaction as possible.

Oh. So you don't really need the image pages then? You're just looking to show the document to the user?

That sounds like your settings for opening PDFs are wrong. Look in Tools\Options\View (in the desktop client) and under Options\Display (in the web client) and check that you're set to show the electronic document by default when opening electronic documents.
