unpublish form - what happens to items in process?

I need to unpublish a form temporarily. There are existing instances that are pending. Will they cancel out if I unpublish it? Will they proceed as they normally would?

If you unpublish it you are essentially just removing the ability to start new instances. Everything else should still work.
