Question

Auto-submission of Form

asked on April 17, 2020

Is there a way to send a form to the LF repository automatically if there is no action by a due date? For instance, a transfer request is sent to a waitlist if the first choice is unavailable. If the first choice does not become available by the deadline such as school start date, can the form file automatically or does a user have to click submit on each form?

You can use a timer boundary event to set a time limit on the task and have it follow a separate outflow if the timer reaches 0. Right click on the user task you want to set a timer on and add a timer boundary event. You can then configure the timer to wait based on a variable or a set amount of time. Make sure to draw an arrow coming directly out of the timer boundary event and set the task to be interrupted once the timer reaches 0. That means, after a set number of days, the user task will be cancelled and you can proceed through the timer event to a next step.
