Is there anyway to display the forms comment box on the starting form.
By default it does display on tasks assigned to users, but I have a requirement to have the comment box displayed on the starting form as well.
To ask for comments on the starting form, you must add a field for the user to fill out. The most similar field type would be multi-line.
Thank you for the response Jared. However the customer wants the comments to also display under the history of the task on the right hand side of the form. A field would not be a sufficient solution.
This is not currently supported. If it would be helpful to show the comments directly in the inbox (without opening the task), you could create the comment field as I mentioned and select that variable to include as a summary variable for the process. That way, when you select the task in the inbox, you could see the comment in the right pane (although not in the action history).
Another idea might be to have the starting form be something very basic like a play button and the option set to "Auto-load next task if assigned to the same user". When a user wants to start the process, they open the starting form and click "Start Process". The next step is a user task assigned back to that initiator with the starting form tied to it. Because of the setting, it will automatically load up after the user clicks "start process". Since this is now a user task they are filling out, you can include comments.
