Question

Docusign user permissions for service account for Web Client configuration

asked on April 2, 2020

Hello,

My customer is looking to create a service account for use in the Web Client configuration page for Docusign. Their concern is that their external IT is responsible for managing this system, and the user that is currently configured does not want their password shared with IT. What are the minimum Docusign permissions required for this DocuSign service account to work properly for the Laserfiche integration? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Brian,

The DocuSign service user needs to following Entry Access Rights to be fully functional:

  • Modify Contents-> to append the signed PDF to a document whose signature was requested within the repository.
  • Write Metadata-> to save field values based on field mappings.
  • Create Documents->for importing new documents when signature request wasn't initiated within the repository.
  • Create Folders->for creating the folder path for new documents into the repository if it didn't already exist.

Read EAR is implied/auto-granted when you allow Write Metadata and/or Modify Contents.

Also note that some of these rights aren't required depending on how you use the DocuSign Integration. Don't have the 'Request Signature with DocuSign' feature configured in Web Client? Then you don't need Modify Contents. Do you not have field value mapping configured? Then Write Metadata isn't necessary.
