Currently Assigned user as variable

Hi there,

Just wondering if it's possible to set the currently assigned user in a variable so it can be used to send reminder emails.

I need this because the form might be manually re-assigned to another user and do not want the reminder email to send to the original user.

This is not currently supported. We are looking to implement a reminder emails feature for user tasks that would allow you to schedule reminders to the person assigned to the task. Would this work for your use case?

It's on our tentative list for this year but we haven't started development on it.

Hi Jared, we see that the reminder feature has been implemented and is really good.

However we would like to have the currently assigned user as a variable (something like {/dataset/_currentuser_displayname}) so that we can use that variable in templated emails (like an alert email about a task that goes to a manager, with the name of who it's currently assigned to); and also in the task name (so that you can see more easily at a glance in a big Team's task list who it's assigned to).

Is there a variable we can use for this?

Hi Duncan, the currently assigned users is not available as a token for the user task, but we are gathering the feedbacks for the task reminder feature and will look into enhance it in future version.

Thanks for the update Xiuhong - it's surprising that this is not available (or by the sound of it not planned to become available). If we go to the Forms monitor and look at 'In Progess' tasks we can see who it is assigned to, so the data is there.

Is there any reason why it can't be made available in the same way as '/initiator' or '/fs_submitter'?

Hi Duncan, it is not available as the currently assigned users information are not retrieved when generate the intermediate data used for processing steps, but it is doable to add them in the intermediate data and support retrieve them with token by process designer.

This feature has been supported from Forms 11 Update 3.

  • Supports the use of user task properties as variable values in user task reminder emails and other steps.
