DCC - Development & Future

asked on March 13, 2020

The DCC is a great tool with a few bugs but tons of promise.  Are there any plans to continue improving it?  Things that would be nice are:

  • Generate Laserfiche pages from PDF's
  • Remove PDF after generating Laserfiche pages
  • Limit the number of "LFOmniOCR Engine" processes that are run at a time
    • The maximum concurrent tasks being set to 1 will still allow multiple of the above mentioned processes to run simultaneously
  • Limit resource usage to keep from consuming all of a servers CPU
  • Update "Jobs" page so that it doesn't load the oldest job first and instead starts with the newest
  • Better integration with Workflow so that after sending a document to the DCC, we can check if a document fails/succeeds in getting fully OCR'd

Definitely have plans to continue improving it!

While I don't have any specific timelines, I can share that adding page generation is at the top of the list.

We do recommend that in Production systems with any significant volume you run DCC Workers on dedicated servers.

That is great news!  I was so excited when it was released but was worried as it seems to have gone a bit dormant since then.  Cant wait to get new functionality.  Thanks for the info.

Hi

Anything new regarding DCC support for PDF?

I have heard conversations but I have not seen anything concrete.

Any ETA on these changes? Have a client experiencing the same thing.

The ability to extract pages from PDFs was released as part of Laserfiche 11.

Thank you Miruna, I was referring specifically to these:

  • Limit the number of "LFOmniOCR Engine" processes that are run at a time
    • The maximum concurrent tasks being set to 1 will still allow multiple of the above mentioned processes to run simultaneously
  • Limit resource usage to keep from consuming all of a servers CPU

Were those included as well?
