Forms Email Task

asked on March 10, 2020

I use to be able to change the from address in the email task in laserfiche forms. Now it's giving me an error when I don't use the email address listed on the config page. We use Office 365 could this be an issue?

Hi Chynna,

What error are you receiving? Are you receiving the error when you try to save the Business Process or at another time?

No when the process runs it is suspended on that task.

Hi Chynna,

That message means something about your email configuration or networking setup isn't correct.

  • Double check that the credentials you're providing for authentication to Office 365 are valid and entered correctly
  • Double check that you have "Use SSL" checked. Port 587 is for encrypted SMTP.
  • Run the following PowerShell command from the Forms server to verify outbound network connectivity to smtp.office365.com on port 587:
    New-Object System.Net.Sockets.Tcpclient 'smtp.office365.com', 587

If successful, you'll get a result like this:

If unsuccessful, you'll get some "connection failed" red error text instead. If that's the case, you'll need to open outbound firewall rules for port 587 (or work with your IT to do so).

Hope that helps.

-Sam

@████████ Ok...My IT team finally tried this and this is what they got. They asked if they needed to look somewhere else possibly?

@████████

Looks like the port is open then, assuming they ran that command from the Forms server.

What about the first two bullet points?

Let me check to see if they ran it from the Forms server. I will also check on the other two bullet points. I hopefully will have an answer Thursday.

@████████ We can't into the Forms Config site. Laserfiche forms is still working. So I can't check it. Error Message: The Forms license is invalid due to: ApplicationNotRegistered [LFF5017-LicenseValidationNoSuccess]

@████████

If that's the case I suggest you work with your solution provider, who can open a support case on your behalf if necessary. Seems like more might be going on under the surface. I'm hesitant to make any further recommendations without being able to take a look.

Thanks for your help! I will get with them to make a support case if they haven't already did that for me.
