Question

Keep a signature visible on a form, while allowing approver to edit their section of form.

asked on March 6, 2020

I am still coming up to speed with Forms, but have encountered the following situation:

If I don't make a form "Read Only" in the "Form" section of the User Task (for an approval step), the approver will be prompted for a signature - the one entered on the form by the submitter disappears.

So selecting that option makes it so the original signature stays, and the approver is not prompted for a signature (when the form had been signed already by the submitter).  But, if you make the form "Read Only" then the section the approver needs to enter information into ($ amount of Rebate if approved etc.) is uneditable by the approver.

Is there any way to make it so the signature of the submitter stays, and the approver is allowed to edit their section of the document?

Hope that makes sense.

Christine

Unfortunately the best way to do this is to make a second copy of the form, then adjust the signature field to read only on the new form along with any other fields you do not want the person to end. Then set that specific task to show the new form you just created.

This can create a maintenance burden as if you adjust one form you will need to adjust both.

Thanks John,

I will create a second form.

Wish List:

It would be great if in future releases, the signature was burned into the submission (like ink bonds to a paper form) as soon as the submit button was selected.

I do appreciate the help!

Thanks again,

Christine
