We have a customer that wants to be able to take a snapshot of their VM and load it up to work on building and testing processes. Right now the only way I know of is to create a new repository on another server, migrate their workflows and forms processes one by one, and repoint them to the new test repository, and go from there. They have about 80 workflows and another 80 forms processes and wouldn't be able to manually import them all and repoint all the repository connection profiles to a test server. They are a Rio user with all the relevant products on one machine (forms, workflow, LFDS, and LF server).
We could make a snapshot of their machine and stand it up outside of their network, the only issue I can think of there is with licensing and fingerprints changing on new hardware. I'm thinking we wouldn't want to connect the box to their production network to license it through LFDS, since we want to make sure that none of the processes affect live data.
1) Is it overcautious to avoid putting the test box on the production network?
2) Is there a simpler way to migrate over all business processes and workflows to a test environment?
3) What licensing issues would we run into?
