Question

Auto hide collapsed sections when saving to the repository

asked on March 3, 2020

On our new travel reimbursement form, we've a couple of sections that are used for informational purposes only when a user fills out the form. They're collapsed by default and a user can expand them if they've questions on a certain section. However, when the form is saved to the repository, the collapsed sections are shown regardless if they're collapsed when saving. Short of duplicating the form and removing those sections for saving purposes only, is there a way to keep those hidden sections from saving to the repository?

No, for any sections that are expandable, we always expand them so the information shows when the PDF is generated, otherwise it would be omitted from the PDF. You would need to create a separate form with just the sections you want for this case.

Thanks for the reply Jared. So, this is still the case, even though the form is being saved as a TIFF and not a PDF?

Yes, same. No matter the format, sections will be saved expanded so as not to hide any information.

Instead of having collapsible sections, you could use check boxes and show/hide rules to show/hide sections. That way if they are not shown on the form, they wont be shown on the TIFF.
