Question

Automate audit trail reporting

asked on March 3, 2020

We need to run audit trail reports regularly and would like to automate this process. Ideally we'd like to find a way to run a predefined report periodically and have that report emailed or (even better) stored in in a Laserfiche repository while a link to that report is emailed to the user.

I haven't been able to find a way to do this with Laserfiche software. Is there a way that I've missed?

Alternatively, has anyone ever figured out the audit trail database enough to write your own automated reports--perhaps with a tool like SQL Server Reporting Services?

The audit database includes some pre-defined views that are intended to make it easier for you to build queries like this.

Thank you Brian! I had been looking at the database tables but those views would be much easier to use.

Do you (or anyone) have any idea how to do look up values from those tables? In particular, I would need to know the event description based on the "event_type", and would need to look up something about the entry from the "entry_id" or the "entry_uuid", whichever had a value.

Knowing how to interpret "prop_type" would also be useful in some situations.

Is there documentation on how to use these fields?

Thanks again!!
