Question

Stay signed in weblink not working

asked on February 28, 2020

Hello Everyone,

I'm noticing that when I open a link for Weblink, I'm being prompted to sign in. No big deal, however, I click another link and a new tab opens and I have to sign in again. Every link opens a new tab and a new login screen.

How come it's not recognizing that I'm already signed in? My users are not happy with having to log in multiple times.

If you are testing in Chrome, you could be running into the changes they included in version 80 that will affect the behavior of cookies for iframes. There are updates available and they require that you configure https: https://support.laserfiche.com/search?q=samesite. You might want to try another browser to see if you get different behavior.

It should be able to reuse the existing connection. Have you changed any of the settings around ASP.Net session timeout, or Laserfiche idle session timeout? Does this happen even if you open the second document immediately?

The only change I have made was in the Weblink Designer and I set the session timeout to 60 minutes.

To make sure you understand the use case, we are embedding hyperlinks on a site to documents with search criteria in a weblink link. Like this,

https://OurWesite.com/WebLink/search.aspx?dbid=1&searchcommand=%7B%5BScholarship%5D%3A%5BStudent%20ID%23%5D%3D%22297784641%22%2C%20%5BSchool%20Year%5D%3D%222019-2020%22%7D

When my user clicks the link, the first time I expect to have them log in. If they leave that tab open and then click another link, that's when the second tab opens and they are prompted to sign in again. With Web access, the connection stays open and no need to sign in again. I'm not seeing this with using Weblink.

Hello Brian,

I updated to Weblink 10.2 and now it's keeping me signed in. I'll keep your link so if I do see it come up again, I'm make some changes. Thanks.
