[Feature Request] Export Performance/Task Load/Workload as image or reports.

posted on February 20, 2020 Show version history

Hey team,

The new reporting views in 10.4.2 are amazing. In particular the task load and workload reports which help you visually identify areas of a process that are creating a bottle neck for the business.

I presume this is already on the list, but just in case it isn't, I'd like to request the ability to configure these view to my preference (eg. set min and max values, or the order of importance) and then export it as a PDF (since some processes have sub-processes), zip of PNG(s) or zip of JPEG(s).

That way I can then present this information in offline environments using a format such as PowerPoint.

Taking this feature a step further:

Could we add the ability to schedule this export and send it via email to specified recipients or store it in the repository?

The use case is to automatically send these heat maps to team leaders / department managers so that they can get a quick VISUAL view of how the various processes within their department are performing.

Thanks for your consideration!

Hi Kris, thanks for sending over those feature requests. I will bring them back to our development team. To clarify

  1. for setting min and max values, right now on heatmap, you could set min and max threshold and based on the min and max threshold, the tasks on the heatmap will have different colors, do you refer to something else?
  2. Could you provide more details about setting the order of importance? Like you want to set the order of importance of all the user tasks within a process? and how do you want to change the view of heatmap based on the order of importance?

Hi Liyun,

1) No, you are correct. I just want the settings - eg. intensity reflected in the heat map by the minimum and maximum settings to be maintained/kept when exporting the PDF.

2) The order of importance I'm referring to is a feature of the Work Load report. You can specify if you want the graph to order the columns alphabetically or by number of tasks. Again, this is a situation where we much prefer the graph to display by number of tasks vs alphabetically. So when exporting the PDF for this feature it would be great if the settings specified were honoured.

Thank you, and if you could also give them praise for such great features in the first place that would be also appreciated :)

Got it. Thank you for clarifying the details. Glad to know that our features are adding value to youlaugh. We will get those feature requests into our list.

Hey @████████

I noticed some of the other reports gained the ability for exporting via PDF in the latest releases, that's awesome! Thanks!

I'm hoping this one for the heat map is still on the list.

In addition to exporting a fixed PDF, it would be very beneficial to be able to schedule a 'snapshot' as we've found this tool resonates well when showing executive stakeholders where the bottlenecks in a process are.

A smaller feature enhancement would be to include the option to turn on/off an activity count to display the "number" of tasks sitting at all activities. At the moment you must click a given activity to see the count of tasks associated with it. This provides a quick glance of how many tasks are sitting at a step.

..and if we're shooting for the moon, one last "crazy" idea, would be to provide "playback" controls to the heatmap view which allow us to seeing a living breathing animation of the process at set intervals for a configured period of time.

For example, activity snapshot every 10 minutes, starting at 8am finishing at 6pm, from 1st of June to 7th of June 2020 (10 minutes / 10 hour "work day" period = 60 frames per day x 7 days = 420 total frames / 15fps = 28 second animated loop).

Playing back that configuration would show activities changing colour as the tasks move through the process and the counts rise and fall (at the designated interval).

What I envisage with this enhancement request is providing stakeholders and executives with a living view of how tasks end up flowing through a process which enables them to make better decisions around demand planning and the management of resources.

It would also make for an awesome demonstration to prospective customers around the power of building processes with Laserfiche!

Thanks!

Thanks for checking this. It's still in our list. We have the export as PDF functionalities in cloud but not yet in self-hosted system. Appreciate your new feature suggestion and that crazy ideawink, I will add them (Schedule a snapshot, turn on/off number count, and playback ) in our backlog and developers could take a look and do some research when our dev cycle loosens up a bit.
