Yes, we're taking down older versions as the newer ones get released. Use 10.4.1 or 10.4.2.

Was the removal of older versions from the download site something that was communicated to SPs and clients and I just missed it?

While I can understand this decision from a Laserfiche point of view unless copies of the older versions are available certain tasks are made more difficult.  For example:

  • SPs looking to perform a repair installation in a client environment where the original source files are no longer present and a version upgrade is not currently possible due to budget or scheduling, etc.
  • SPs looking to train new employees in a lab environment on how to upgrade from one version to another
  • SPs looking to simulate a version upgrade to ensure a smooth upgrade when attempting in a live client environment
  • SPs looking to build an environment with an older version to match a client system in order to replicate an issue for troubleshooting purposes.

These are just a few off the top of my head, none of which are critical to day to day operations but could have impact.

This has always been our procedure. Older installation files (for any version) are always available through Tech Support if needed.

At least one previous minor or patch version is still available for the current major version. For ex, the current version is 10.4.2, we keep both 10.4.1 (previous patch version) and 10.3.1 (previous minor version) available. Packages for the last releases of the Laserfiche 9 (9.2.1) and 8 (8.3.2) are still available.
