Question

Asynchronous Uploads

SDK
asked on February 6, 2020

Hello,

I recently incorporated async logic in my program that imports multiple files concurrently. I'm seeing some CPU spikes with this vs just importing them one at a time, so I was wondering if that's an issue with Laserfiche. We have hundreds of people using Laserfiche and resources are fine otherwise. I'm using the same session to import the files. Should I open a new session for each file, or x number of files? Is there a best practice for importing multiple files at once?

Thanks

Are you saying that you see higher CPU usage on the Laserfiche server when importing multiple documents simultaneously than you do when you import them one at a time? Is the difference in resource usage disproportionate to the amount of parallelism? Are you looking at CPU usage of LFS.exe itself, or is it LFFTS.exe? Importing shouldn't be a resource-intensive operation, but indexing could be. What kind of documents are these?

I would not expect using multiple sessions to make much of a difference.

I found out that there may have been a workflow running at the time, so I'll keep an eye on it. It's this process that spikes.
