Question

Subscriber tracer not showing consistent values

asked on February 5, 2020

Hello Everyone,

I have used the subscriber tracer to track down issues with my starting rules in the past. However, right now, it seems like one of my repositories us just not showing up.

I do have working Workflows for this repository so I'm not sure why I can't see the rule evaluation.

I took it a step further and opened the live event viewer. Here I can see the events. Those events still do not show on the main Events tab for subscriber tracer.

What am I missing? What would cause the tracer to not show events?

The Subscriber Trace only shows events if it has active starting rules for that event type. Additionally, it will also filter out any events for users specified in the user exclusion filter in the Advanced Server Options (under Monitored Repositories).

Hello Miruna,

I understand your first statement. What I was hoping to do is troubleshoot why a particular WF was not starting. The WF was published and was not starting so I wanted to see how WF evaluated the starting rules.

In your second statement, I reviewed the configuration under Advance Server Options and Monitored Repositories and there is NO user in the Exclusion Filter.

I opened the Subscriber Tracer today and now all the activities I was looking for are in there.

Why would I not see these yesterday? There was nothing for my Windows Repository and now it shows events dating all the way back to 1/22/2020. Why?

One thing I forgot to ask yesterday was if the repository tab was showing any warnings. It's hard to guess from just screenshots. There may be messages in the subscriber errors log that indicate what happened.
