Scanner Reviews?

asked on January 24, 2020

Can anyone share some positive feedback on certain scanner models beyond the list contained in https://www.laserfiche.com/products/supported-scanners/?

We're in the initial planning stages of a massive scanning project that could involve the purchase of desktop scanners for multiple campus sites. I believe that we'll need scanners that can handle a variety of document sizes from Post-its to 8 1/2" x 14" and process at least 50 sheets at a time. We've had Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500s deployed at desktop work stations throughout the district for about five years and just started testing a few Kodak ScanMate i1150s.

Feedback is appreciated. Please, no vendor calls.

Hi John,

Being a scanner engineer for the last 18 years, I can hopefully offer some insight into this.

Realistically at the end of the day, most manufacturers all adhere to the same functionality. It's more about the local support you're going to get from the respective vendor which is more important than scanner choice in my opinion. Check the SLA's and fix times more importantly with your vendors.

From my own personal experience. Kodak scanners are generally at the top of the league, but then come with the price tag to match. Best bang for your buck in terms of functionality and reliability I would say is Panasonic. Closely followed by Fujitsu & Canon. Down the bottom of the table would be Epson & Ricoh.

Hope this helps with your decision!

We use Canon.  DR-M140, DR-M260 and Scanfront 400 with success.
