Web Client unauthorized in Document Preview Window

posted on January 21, 2020

Hello,

We have a customer who have users that are getting an Unauthorized message when they go to view documents in the document viewer in the LF Web Client.  They can see the Thumbnail images.

These same users are able to view the documents without issue in the LF Windows Client.

Appreciate any feedback,

Jeff Curtis

Do they get the message for all documents or only Microsoft Office documents?

If the latter, it may be a known issue with the Laserfiche Document Preview Service (LDPS) in Laserfiche 10.4/10.4.1 when accessing the Laserfiche web client at a URL other than its true FQDN and/or via a proxy. Let me know if so and I'll find the workaround instructions for you.

Hello Rich and Samuel,

Customer issue resolved after they rebooted their LF Server.  No further action was taken.

Thanks Again,

Jeff Curtis

Hi Sam,

Is this still a known issue or has it since been resolved? If there are still workaround instructions for this issue, please can you forward them ASAP?

Cheers!

Chris

Chris,

Are you specifically referring to the LDPS / MS Office docs-only issue I described above? If you're encountering it, please let me know exactly what version of Web Client it occurs on.

This post was almost four years ago, so it may be resolved in newer versions. If not, I vaguely recall the workaround being putting in a local hosts file entry for 127.0.0.1 for the Web Client URL hostname on that server.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the swift reply.

This is WA 11, the latest and greatest flavour. No worries, I'll raise a support case.

Cheers!

Just an an FYI, didn't raise a support case, but changing the anonymous authentication on the Laserfiche website from disabled to enabled resolved this issue. Weird......

Interesting, thanks for the update. That's the state that the installer should configure the site to initially, so you don't need to worry about whether that is supported. We need to allow both Windows and anonymous access because of the range of authentication options that we support.

I've only had this happen in Internet Explorer and after the user gets a PC upgrade.

Try unchecking "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View" and see if that helps
