Weblink- Error Executing Child request-Login

asked on January 7, 2020

Hello,

Customer migrated LF to new servers and when they tried to access certain Weblink Links they started to get the following error "Error Executing Child Request for /Weblink/DocView.aspx"

Here is one of the links:

https://records.co.kittitas.wa.us/WebLink/DocView.aspx?dbid=0&id=4728862

The customer stated that the Public user account used for this auto login had Read Permissions to the various folders and files.  Once they added Browse permissions, then they links would work correctly.

They migrated LFS to newer Servers and updated to LF 10.4.1, but Weblink was migrated and stayed at Version 9 Update 2 (9.0.1.350).

Was there a change to the Public Account Permission with 10.4.1 that now needs Browse perms???

Appreciate the feedback.

Permissions issues should result in "Access Denied" rather than a error message, but if you don't have browse permissions on a folder you cannot see the contents.

If the public account needs to see what is inside of a folder, then it should have browse rights.

EDIT: To clarify, Browse actually gives you the right to see if a folder or document exists, so although Read lets you open a document/folder, browse on the entry or its children can be an important factor depending on exactly what they're trying to open with the links.
