Question

Question

Time Zone - Forms Process Timestamp.

asked on January 7, 2020

Hi All,

Looking for someone to confirm or deny my suspicions here regarding LF Forms and where in the process it time stamps a step time.

As per my first image, from the monitor section from the form process reads that it was completed  at 9:35 but my server is reporting the correct time of 10.37 but this isnt being picked up by my forms server.

Furthermore in my Forms Config I havae set the time zone to UTC+1 which is the same as the server hosting LF but still this has no effect.

Does this really mean that for each form process I have, in the process options I must change the time zone as per my last image?

How does that logic make sense? How does that work for enterprises moving timezones? We work in the maritime industry and have vessels sailing through time zones?

Thanks

Christian

UPDATE - I even changed the specific form time zone in the 'Process Options' to UTC+1 and it is still wrong, its an hour behind UTC+1;

The process time zone you have showing herein process options is for all the times configured in the process. These are things like timer catch events and due dates. Process admins can edit the process from anywhere in the world, so the process needs to be set to a specific time zone so it knows what absolute time everything is set to. When a process is created, it will default to the time zone set on the Forms server.

Users can also specify their own time zone under their username dropdown in the top right corner, My Account. This will control the time zone of things outside of any process (Inbox, Monitor page...).

The process may have its time zone set to Pacific and an admin sets the due date to be 5 pm on Friday PST. But a user in New York would want to see that due date in the inbox as 8 pm their time, whereas a user in Hawaii would need to see the due date for the same task at 2 pm their time.

It sounds like in your case, you should set the Forms servers and all processes to use the same time zone (the time zone at head quarters), but allow any remote users to update their user time zone so they can see the times in the Inbox and Monitor pages that apply to their current location.
