How to prevent Forms Process from duplicating when promoting

asked on January 2, 2020

When we promote the business forms process from development to QA after enhancing some fields, since a previous version already existed in QA, it creates a duplicate. Before when there was a business process that already existed, it gave us an option to overwrite it.  Do each of the processes have an ID that needs to match in order to overwrite an existing process during promotion?

Yes, the processes have an ID as well as all the steps in the process. If you download the process from QA and import that into your development environment, the IDs should remain constant and re-uploading to QA will allow you to overwrite. If you copied the process in dev, the IDs wouldn't match up and overwrite wouldn't be an option. In order to overwrite a process, Forms needs to know which process ID and which elements match up.

Jared, is there any way to force this? I have a lot of little updates I made in a process, but it's not giving me the overwrite option and I'd really like to avoid having to replicate all of the changes/updates.
