Cloud Bot: Error Reading a CSV: The file extension is not .csv

asked on December 10, 2019

I'm testing the Read CSV file function in the Bot Designer. I've connected to the sample file and entered the file path. The file was saved as a ANSI Text file ending in .csv.

When it tries to read the file the message in the Action History box says: "The file extension is not .csv".

What am I missing?

Hi Kyle,

Where is says "File path", you have a folder path (i.e. the path to it's containing folder).

Please update file path as: C:\Users\kyle\Documents\csv_Bots_Demo.csv

We do have an open bug for enhancing this behavior or error reporting for it as we recognize its a bit confusing.

Let me know if that update doesn't work!

Thanks,

Cosette

Hi Kyle,

Did you include the " name_of_file.csv" (using your name of the file of course) in your filename? This is an expected error for when a foldername is given instead of a filename.

We're looking to make the validation catch this error earlier in the bot creation since it's caused some confusion before.

If this is not the case, then would you mind sharing that part of your bot definition so we can take a closer look?

Thanks,

Cosette
