Connection JDBC legacy

Is it possible since Workflow or Forms makes a connection for reading data to JDBC legacy? We have a client who asks us this question, however we have no experience in this type of engine

Only ODBC data sources are supported at this time.

"JDBC" refers to a Java-language driver interface, so it's not relevant to Workflow or Forms. What is the data source they want to connect to?
