Question

How to add in thousands of AD groups into Laserfiche (LFDS)

asked on December 5, 2019

We have a client who is trying to "sync" up thousands of AD groups into LFDS in an attempt to setup their security as a first time system. They are wanting to do this first in a QA environment and then in their live environment. I wanted to know if there was a way to bring these groups into LFDS using some sort of batch file or script process and I'm coming up short.

Obviously we could add these groups in manually but the time it would take is prohibitively long. Any help, insight, or solutions would be most appreciated.

Why not just create a new AD group for LF licenses and add Domain Users as it's member?

In almost all cases, I would recommend the same but this particular client wishes to keep it the way they have it.

Another point is that they want each of those groups to have custom rights in their repository.

Hi Brian,

I would recommend making groups in AD for each license type, and using those license type groups to sync users into LFDS using AD Group Sync. Once the users are licensed in LFDS, all of their AD groups will automatically be added to their token upon login. Because of this, you can specify rights for certain AD groups in the repository without needing to explicitly add those groups to LFDS.
