Question

Insert DOC ID in Microsoft Word easily?

asked on November 25, 2019

If we wanted to identify where in the repository the document is by using ID number, rather than a file path,, is there a way to insert this easily, rather than copying and pasting from the end of the URL? I'd like to label some with an EDOCS ID # at the bottom of the page.... So all anyone has to do is search the ID number for that scanned document in the repository and they would get a search result for that document. Any ideas?

Thanks.

If I've interpreted what you are after correctly then you can insert the entry ID via the "Tokens" dialog in MS Word:

Or if you are opening via the Web Client you can also choose to insert the hyperlink directly.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but you can already search the repository for the Entry ID without needing to put it inside the document.

Thanks. Nigel was able to answer my question. The ID is useful to put on the document if bring printed and circulated, etc., we know that it is digital or if we scan a document, you can put the ID on it, so you know it is digitized. That was my goal. Thanks. Denny

In that case, I recommend a clear label such as: "EntryID: 1234" It makes it easier to parse out of the OCR'd contents.
