Question

Consolidate Laserfiche 7 Images and DB into another Repository (10.3)

asked on November 8, 2019

Hello,

One of our customers' has some old LF 7 Images (2 Volumes folders) and the MDF files that correspond to them, from another department, they discovered and they would like to merge these volumes into their current LF System (10.3).

I am thinking as long as the volumes name do not conflict, would it be possible to mount them via the LF Admin Console?

What I am not sure of is the MDF files and how that could be merged with the current DB.

Any Advice/Pointer, greatly appreciated.

Unless these volumes were exported (so the metadata is in flat files (xml) in the volume folders), you will not be successful just mounting/importing them.  You may need to temporally set up a LFS 7 server and attach the repository with the volumes and then either export the volumes through the LF Admin Console or export the documents to Briefcase(s).

One more note...

You could try to run the DB through the migration utility and then mount it to a LF 10 server before exporting volumes or documents.  This would get around any LF7 and OS incompatibilities.
