Question

update a variable in forms using workflow

asked on November 5, 2019 Show version history

Hello,

New to forms and workflow, just new to laserfiche in general.

We have started a very simple absence form to test have forms and workflow work together.  We only have 3 single lines in the form with one being "parameter".  We would like to run workflow to input a set number into the form, just to see how it works.

We have set the parameter= 789, but this does not put that value back into the form?  In forms, this design gets stuck on the workflow, although the workflow shows everything to have been completed.

Can someone tell me what we are doing wrong?  It is simple, but we can not achieve it.

Thank you!

Is the option on the Workflow Task set to wait until it is finished?

What could be happening is the Form moving on and not allowing the parameter to be set first before moving to the User Task.

It should look like this.

Yes.  We have checked to wait for forms to complete.  This is why in forms, this service task stays in progress and does not move forward.

Did you check in Workflow Designer search to see if there are any errors or problems with your workflow?

Yes I did.  In workflow, all shows to have been completed and no errors shown.

However, forms shows the action still "in progress" in the workflow service task.

You might try throwing the Track Tokens activity after the Set Business Process Variables activity to see if the tokens are what you expect.

Have you tried using the value without the quotes?

Yes, tried it without quotes.

When using track tokens, it will only let me select from the "retrieve business  process activity".  When I select and select the parameter, which is what we are trying to input a value of 789, when running again, it returns and empty value.
